The house is a stunning, ocean front property of architectural note, with a living room / yoga room of DREAMS! Every morning watch the sun rise as we do yoga and join in circle with a warm cup of cacao. And every evening we enjoy the sunset together, in sisterhood, in support, in health.

*A note about it being a sober retreat: This is an alcohol free retreat, strictly. We ask politely that you don’t consume alcohol at this event, all week. It is a special retreat for 12 'sober curious' or sober women - it’s simply a restful, embodied and fun 7 nights without booze (so if you do drink sometimes, but you are comfortable for a period without, why not take a week off so you can come home truly rested?). ​You may be asked to leave if you break the agreement not to drink or take intoxicating substances. 

The Perfect Balance of Luxurious Accommodation, Relaxed Self-Care, and Experiential Learning 

Days will be a blend of the following: 
  • Morning & Evening Sunrise / Sunset Yoga Circle - Daily chakra themed gentle yoga, breath work and meditation to reconnect with your body's wisdom. Sacred journal and sharing circles for authentic sharing and witnessing in a safe container... Evening Sunset Yin Yoga / Yoga Nidra / Restorative Yoga - 6 x restful, magical yoga sessions in the sunset yoga den. 
  • Ayurvedic Workshops - several workshops to help you understand some key principles of Ayurveda to take away with you (prior to retreat, I will ensure you are aware what your personalized 'dosha' - dominant mind body type - is. We will cover key areas like sleep, rhythms and routines, food, movement and more. 
  • Exquisite Nourishment - breakfasts, lunch and dinners plus snacks are included - and provided by Holistic Retreat Chef Hayley North who works with Food Energetics influenced by Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic cooking principles to create bespoke menu's tailored for the retreat, seasonally aligned, balanced nutritionally and supporting local producers where possible...
  • Self Care & Adventures - plenty of time to chill out (I am a big believer in free time on retreat) and also massages available (not included). Plus cold water dips in the ocean, daily, for those who wish to brave it - we are on a beach so it would be rude not to! However there is also a hot tub is hot water is more your thing! Plus 3 hikes, so fresh air aplenty! And there is also a heated pool - 28 degrees, which is more than warm enough to swim, if you are into that sort of thing!

Woman Retreat

THE SETTING: ​​
Your base for the week will be ARC Thorpeness. Converted from a Grade II listed former water tower, ARC Thorpeness is a beachfront property, a  bold reimagining of one of Suffolk’s most distinctive coastal buildings. Enjoy panoramic views from all sides of the astonishing 5th floor living room or enjoy morning coffee in the Mediterranean garden with outdoor heated pool (28 degrees!), wood-fired hot tub and alfresco kitchen.

The interiors are designed for relaxation and togetherness, with a cinema snug, yoga studio in the lounge, and panoramic views throughout. Eight bedrooms feature luxurious Super-King beds, which can also be arranged as twin singles, so twin sharing is available. All rooms are en-suite.​
Tucked away on the wild Suffolk coast, Thorpeness is a whimsical seaside village with a storybook charm. Created in the early 1900s as a fantasy holiday village, it was designed by Glencairn Stuart Ogilvie - a friend of J.M. Barrie, the author of Peter Pan. The village’s magical boating lake, known as The Meare, is scattered with tiny islands named after places from Neverland - like Wendy’s House, the Pirate’s Lair, and the crocodile’s cave.
There’s a timeless, dreamlike quality to Thorpeness - a place where imagination, stillness, and nature meet. It’s the perfect setting to pause, breathe, and reconnect with your own inner sense of wonder.
THE EXPERIENCE: 
At the heart of The Balanced Woman lies the timeless wisdom of Ayurveda - the ancient Indian art of living in harmony with nature.

Ayurveda teaches that true wellbeing isn’t something we chase - it’s something we return to, when we begin to live in alignment with our body’s natural rhythms, the changing seasons, and our unique inner constitution (dosha).
Through gentle daily rituals, mindful movement, nourishing food, rest, and self-awareness, Ayurveda helps us come home to a place of deep balance - body, mind, and spirit.
Over the course of this retreat, you’ll explore how to bring this wisdom to life in a modern, embodied way. Prior to retreat we will ascertain your unique dosha (mind-body type) and on retreat you will learn more and start to understand how it shapes your energy, emotions, and habits.

Through a series of workshops, yoga practices, and guided rituals, you’ll learn how to:
  • Balance your dosha through movement, food, and lifestyle choices that nourish rather than deplete.
  • Build simple Ayurvedic routines to anchor your day in rhythm and calm.
  • Tune into your inner seasons - understanding what your body and nervous system need as life and nature shift.
  • Deepen your connection to your body as a wise, living guide - not something to control, but something to honour.

Hi, I'm Rachel, your host!

I am an Embodiment Guide, Holistic Life Coach, Yoga Teacher - and retreat host! I am also sober neurodivergent mum of 3! I have been on retreats and trainings all over the world. I can't wait to host you as we gather for a very special week in Suffolk!

 

Imagine a retreat full of embodiment - centered around yoga and Ayurveda from the activities, to the workshops, to the food we eat and even the schedules we keep - their will be many belly laughs and probably a few tears with new friends who - and I promise you this always happens - will feel like you've know them for years after one day!
