Hey! I'm Rachel...

I'm a mum of 3 kids, aged 14, 12 and 6. Married to my university sweetheart, who puts up with a lot... and we live in a renovated farmhouse in the Peak District. I have 2 dogs, 2 cats, a rabbit, and a habit of always piling too much on my plate then moaning about it... LOL!

Nice to meet you! Connect with me on socials, or read more about my Yoga and Embodiment journey below...

My Yoga & Embodiment Story

I dabbled in Yoga a bit in my 20s, back in the 2000s. Then, like so any of us, during Covid my Yoga practice increased, mainly due to needing something 'healthy' to do, and to get away from the kids for 20 mins (and not drink wine!). I did a 30 Day Yoga with Adriene challenge on YouTube, and I was hooked. I signed up to an in person 200 hour training but only made it about 8 days in as I was too raw, mentally, and it was INTENSE. Then I was introduced to The Mindful Life Practice and decided to train online with Alex McRoberts. I loved it. I started teaching online for her sober community, as I am also sober (not been a linear journey though!). Then I taught some classes here and there in person. I decided to take Alex's 30 hour Sober Yoga Certification, then her 300hr. I also have studied with Norman Blair on his Yin 50hr certificate, as well as a recent 50hr in Aromatics for Yoga with Amelia Adrian. I am also Reiki 2 attuned, a Holistic Life Coach and an Embodiment Coach.

Yoga, for me, has been a way to quieten my mind, creating space in the body and releasing tension to be a nicer, calmer person. I was diagnosed with ADHD and prone to indecision, mood fluctuations, impulsiveness and emotional dysregulation. I used alcohol to socialise and regularly overindulged, so much so it was destroying my already delicate mental health. Yoga has helped me to replace alcohol with something so positive and life changing. The movement practice (Asana) helps to meditate without just sitting, which I find hard. The breathwork helps to clear my mind and bring energy. Then, meditation, even if its short, is easier. My spiritual journey and education is really all about one thing: realising that we are not the body, we are not the thoughts, we are the soul, and that is inside us, and it's immortal. Once we begin to settle the mind, through movement and breath, then we remember that we are souls having a human experience. We can tap into that part of ourselves which is always kind, always loving, and just... IS. This means we can let go of stress, and experience more love. My yoga classes, in person and my sober classes online, as well as my yoga workshops online, are a great way to explore yoga.

In 2024 I qualified as an Embodiment Coach. Embodiment means different things to different people. I normally tell people, in short, it's about getting out of our heads and into our bodies, hence the name of my new podcast, Let's Get Out of Our Heads! Embodiment is about feeling things, living life through our senses. It's also about remebering our innate wholeness. Our sacred femininity and wisdom. All things that have been knocked out of us over the last few hundred years as we moved away from our intuition and towards things like Big Pharma, the patriarchy, organised religion, as opposed to natural remedies, the feminine ways, and a nature based spirituality.

As you can probably see, you can take it as a simple or a complex notion; it's both. In my practices I like to go back to old ways to connect to myself, my body, my inner landscape and my spirituality. And that's what I try to guide others to.
